Hope stammered when Thomas proposed marriage for a third time, but anticipating that response, he said he'd asked again just to prove the point that she'd never agree to marry him. Brooke confronted Hope about the true reason Hope wanted Thomas back -- to mask Hope's feelings for Finn -- and advised Hope to let Thomas go. Thomas told Hope that he, Paris, and Douglas were returning to France, and Thomas was surprised when Hope wished him well. Restless about Tom's death, Hollis discovered concerning contents in Tom's backpack. Hollis was eager to talk to Sheila about it, but, sure it was a biohazard, she told him to throw the bag out. Hollis held on to the bag and decided to discuss it with an unknown patron. The next morning, Sheila found Hollis dead behind the bar.
