Everyone was in the courtroom and waiting for the jury to say what they had decided. The judge asked to see the verdict, and the bailiff went to the jury's foreman and got a piece of paper and took it to the judge. He looked at it, and the bailiff returned it to the foreman. The foreman read the verdict. Margo was found guilty of murder in the second degree. The courtroom started to buzz.

Cass asked the judge, since it was so close to the holidays, if Mrs. Hughes could spend the time with her family until the sentencing. The judge denied him and said that Mrs. Hughes would be taken into custody. A policeman approached to get Margo, but Jack told the officer that he would take her. Jack told Tom that he would take good care of her. Tom told Margo that he would continue to look for evidence and advised her to not give up hope. They hugged, and Margo whispered in his ear that she knew that he would continue to work on her case.

Margo looked over Tom's shoulder and saw Emily leaving the courtroom, and Emily had a grin on her face. Margo left with Jack. Bob and Lisa told Tom that they would go home with him and be with him when he told the boys. Before they left, Tom called Nancy and told her the bad news, saying he would be there soon to tell the boys.

As Tom was packing up his things, Jessica was getting her stuff together. Tom told her that he hoped that she was proud of herself. She said that she was just doing her job. Tom said that he would find the evidence to clear Margo's name then he wondered how Jessica would feel when she learned that she had sent an innocent woman to jail.

Abigail and Christopher were in the park, discussing their relationship and if they should share it with Abigail's family. She wanted to be honest with them, but he didn't think it would go over well. They decided to keep it a secret, for the moment.

Molly was doing a relaxation ritual, and Carly knocked at the door. Carly was there with Champagne, and she wanted to celebrate. As they clinked their glasses together, Carly made a toast that she hoped to never clean toilets again. Molly started to laugh. She had forgotten about Carly cleaning Lisa's toilets. Molly asked her about Hong Kong, and Carly did not want to talk about it. Molly insisted, and Carly asked her if she would like to talk about her boy toy. Molly said that the subject was dropped.

Abigail arrived, and Carly decided to put some color into Abigail's face. She got her makeup kit out and started to paint Abigail. When she was finished, Carly made a comment as to how beautiful Abigail was with makeup on. Molly didn't like that Abigail was so beautiful all made up, and she said that Abigail was just as beautiful with no makeup as well as with some. Carly made a comment about Abigail modeling. Molly said absolutely not. Carly told her that she sounded a bit like Emma.

Molly said that she didn't know what had gotten into her; she sounded like a mother. She told Abigail that if Holden said it was okay, it would be okay with her. Abigail was all excited, and Carly took an afghan off the couch and put it around Abigail's shoulders. Abigail acted like she was modeling it. Molly had a flashback of her and Chris making love on the afghan, and she rushed over to Abigail and snatched it off of her. Abigail and Carly were surprised. Molly made an excuse that it wasn't her color.

Carly started to talk to Abigail about the dates of the showing and, of course, the practices. Abigail got her date book out of her bag, and she took a few books out, too. As Carly and Abigail were talking, Molly saw the F. Scott Fitzgerald book and remembered seeing the same book in Chris's apartment. She questioned Abigail about it, and she told Molly that it was a book that she needed for school. Molly questioned the inscription on the inside cover: "to Daisy." Abigail told her that it was a secondhand book.

Chris showed up at Tom and Margo's house, and he had Silly String for the boys. As he started to shoot the boys with it, he told his grandmother not to worry; it wouldn't stain, and it was easy to clean up. Adam and Casey ganged up on Chris, and Chris called to his grandmother to help. She picked up a can and joined in on the fun.

As the three boys were wrestling around and being rambunctious, Tom, Bob, Lisa, and John walked in. All of a sudden, the boys saw the adults and stood up. Tom told the boys the bad news. Casey got upset and said that his father had promised to bring his mother home. He ran off, saying that he would never trust Tom again. John caught Casey, and Casey sobbed into John's arms. Tom looked hopeless.

Adam took Casey upstairs to get him settled down. Tom asked Bob and Lisa to stay with the boys; he had some evidence to find. Tom left and went to the courthouse, where he found Jessica. She told Tom that she was tired and asked if he could wait until the following day. Tom told her that it couldn't wait.

Tom told Jessica that Emily had been stalking Margo and Alec. He told her that he believed that Emily had been in Alec's suite the night he had been murdered. He told her about the security tape and the woman with a scarf on her head. He told her that he needed a warrant to search Susan's home so he could find the scarf and prove that Emily was the killer. Jessica said that she would go talk to the judge.

Emily arrived home, and Susan, Alison, and Daniel were in the living room. Emily was happy, and she went over, picked up her son, and hugged him. Emily told Susan about Margo being convicted. Susan couldn't believe that Emily was so happy about another woman's misery. Emily told Daniel that he would be seeing his father a lot more.

Susan started to tell Emily about when she'd been Emily's age and addicted to drugs. Emily interrupted and asked her mother what that boring story had to do with her. Susan tried to explain that she should not depend on anyone else to lean on. She should be adult enough to stand on her own two feet and not be dependent on Tom. Emily dismissed her mother and said that she was not doing that.

Susan decided to put the children to bed. Susan took Daniel from Emily. Emily said goodnight, and Susan and the kids left. Emily had a big smile on her face, and she clapped her hands and said that she knew that she would have a good Christmas. The doorbell rang, and Emily opened the door. Tom was standing there, and Emily smiled and said that she'd known he would show up.

Jack was at the station and looking at the security tapes from the hotel that Alec Wallace had been staying in. He rewound the tape a couple of times, studying the woman in the scarf, walking down the stairs. Carly arrived with some food for Jack. He told her what he was doing, and she looked at the tapes. She told Jack that the woman had to be high society, because she was wearing a scarf from the Barbara Ryan line. Jack grabbed her, kissed her, and told her that she had just given him a new lead.

Jack tried to call Fashions, but they were closed. Carly told him to sit and eat his food. There was nothing that he could do until morning. He started to eat, and Carly asked him why he was still investigating the case. He told her that he felt that Margo was innocent, and he didn't like it when innocent people got sent to jail. The phone rang, and Jack answered it. The person on the phone told Jack that the warrant he had been waiting on was ready. Jack kissed Carly goodbye and told her, "Duty calls."

Tom was at Susan house, and he and Emily were talking in the living room. Emily asked Tom if he would like something to drink. Tom asked her for some scotch. When she left to get his drink, he started digging into a potted plant that was in the living room. As he was digging, Susan walked into the room. Susan told him how sorry she was that Margo had been convicted. She asked him how he was doing and how the boys were taking it. They were making small talk, and Emily returned to the room with Tom's drink.

Emily asked Tom to stay and have dinner with them. He said that he had just stopped over to see Daniel, and he would go upstairs and do that. After he was gone, Susan started to lecture Emily about Tom, and Emily suggested that her mother go out for dinner by herself. Susan took her coat and left. Emily thanked her mother as Susan was walking out the door then she called her a grinch.

Tom walked downstairs with Daniel. He said that Daniel had been awake when he'd gone into his room and would not go back to sleep. Emily said that she would go upstairs and rock him for a bit. After she was gone, Tom started to rifle through the potted plant again. Emily returned downstairs and asked Tom what he was doing. He made up an excuse about dropping a picture that he had been looking at and breaking the plant. She told him not to worry about the plant, and she had him sit in a chair. She told him that she wanted to be there for him. Whatever he needed, she would do.

Emily started to massage Tom's shoulders, and he was trying to explain to her how he felt. He couldn't concentrate with Emily giving him the massage. He asked her to stop. She told him to relax, and she would take care of him. The doorbell rang, and she said that she guessed she had to answer it. When she opened the door, Jack was standing there, and he showed her the warrant to search her home. Jack ordered the other policeman that were with him to start searching the house. Emily said that they couldn't do that.

Emily looked at Tom and asked him if they were allowed to do that. Tom told her that it was in her best interest to cooperate. She asked Jack what was he looking for. If he would tell her, maybe she could help him. She walked over to Tom and asked him about the policemen being there, and Tom just looked at her. All of a sudden, it hit her. She said that he had said in court that he had found out something then she asked if he thought that she had killed Alec Wallace.

Tom told Jack that he had already looked through that plant, and Jack told the policemen to go upstairs and look for the scarf and look through all the shoes. Emily looked at Tom and said that she couldn't believe that he was doing that to her. Tom told her about knowing that she'd sabotaged Margo's car the night she'd been at Alec's cabin and that she had followed them to Chicago. He told her that he was sure that she'd set up Jessica with the letter that Margo had written to Alec. Emily looked at Tom and said that she would never forgive him.

Susan walked in and wanted to know what was going on. Emily said that they were turning her house upside down. Susan said that she could see that, but she wanted to know why. Emily looked at Tom and said that "this man, who is the father of my child and the man that I was willing to give my whole life to, thinks that I am capable of murder." She went over and sat on the couch.

Jack and the policemen finished the search. They took out several boxes of high heel shoes. Jack asked Emily if she would like to go with him. Emily said, "For what?" Jack told her to be questioned in the murder of Alec Wallace.

John had gone to the jail to visit Margo. He told her that Tom was going to get her another trial, and he knew that she would be found innocent. Margo told him not to hold his breath. She said that Tom was still working on getting some evidence in her case. She told him about Tom suspecting Emily. She told him that in her visions, she couldn't see Emily's face. She told him how bad she wanted it to be Emily, but she couldn't. She asked him if he thought Emily was capable of murder. John said that he thought she was -- and she would be laughing while doing it.

Margo said that just shot their theory because, in her memory, she heard a woman crying. John said that he had to go, and she shouldn't be too hard on herself. He left, and Margo started to pace in the jail cell. She couldn't understand why she couldn't see the face of the woman. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, Alec was sitting on the cot in the cell. He was just looking at her. She asked him to just tell her who had killed him and asked why he didn't just say the name. He held up the scarf that the woman had been wearing on the security tape. She looked at the scarf, and he disappeared. She was standing and staring at an empty cot.

Henry told Holden that Katie had been working all day and had not heard about her sister, Margo. Henry said that he would go break the news to her. Holden told him that he would take care of it. Henry left, and Katie walked in. Holden stopped her and told her that the jury had made a decision in her sister's case. Katie looked at Holden and saw the worst. He told her that they had convicted her.

Katie started to cry. Holden held her while she sobbed. When she composed herself a bit, she told Holden that Tom was going to need her more than ever. She asked Holden if it would go against her record if she needed to take some time off work. Holden told her to take all the time she needed, and it wouldn't affect her work record. Holden offered her a ride home, and she said that she had Margo's car. She thanked him.

Holden left, and Henry walked up, clapping his hands. He told Katie that she had played him like a Stradivarius. She looked at him like she didn't know what he was talking about. He told her that she had some Wiley E. Coyote in her. She gave him a look like he was something stupid.

Lily had fallen asleep on the bed, waiting for Holden. She had some candles lit and a tray of finger food sitting by. Holden walked into the room, and she woke up. He apologized for waking her. She told him it was okay and asked him if he would like something to eat. He looked around the room and asked if he had missed something. She said no, he hadn't.

Lily asked Holden if he was going to come to bed. He said that he had some work to do and wouldn't be going to bed yet. However, he wouldn't wake the kids, and he would try not to wake her when he got in bed. He gave her a kiss and left the room. She yelled after him and told him to not stay up too late. She looked down at the candles and blew them out. She was disappointed but did not let Holden see it.

Jake admitted to Julia that the expensive bracelet he'd bought was for Vicky. Hal was not pleased to find Jack interrogating Emily and ordered Jack to release her. After learning that Margo remembered seeing the butterfly scarf that was in the surveillance tape, Tom called Lisa at Fashions and asked her to check her inventory.

Eddie vowed to Georgia that he'd support Margo. Jake insisted to Julia that his wife was alive, and he was surprised when she told him she didn't think he was crazy for believing that. Julia further volunteered to help him find toys for Vicky's boys. Emily slapped Tom when he suggested Daniel stay with him. She bitterly told Tom that he belonged with Margo and warned him not to seek custody of their son -- or he'd regret it.

Eddie and Georgia visited Margo in jail and volunteered to take on her shopping list for Adam and Casey. Emily interrupted to say Margo wouldn't be able to pin the blame on her. Lisa's records showed she'd sold three of the butterfly scarves, and each woman had a connection to Alec. Georgia had to restrain Eddie when Emily posited that dying and leaving Eddie rich was the best thing his father had ever done. Emily told Margo she would never risk her freedom in order to try to win Tom. Leaving, she announced to Margo that she could have Tom -- Emily was through with him. Margo admitted to Eddie she knew for sure that Emily hadn't killed Alec.

Lisa told Tom, Hal, and Jack that Emily wasn't on the list of buyers, but Susan was. Jake protested when Lucinda's name was also announced. Julia walked in wearing the scarf, revealing herself to be the third name on the list. Hal confiscated Julia's scarf and questioned her whereabouts on the night of the murder. Jake piped up that she had been at the airport with him, waiting for Vicky's plane to arrive. Jack took Julia aside, but she insisted she had nothing to hide. Privately, Julia berated Jake for even considering that she had actually killed Alec.

Margo explained to Georgia that she remembered a woman crying, and it didn't match up with Emily. She then mock-ordered Georgia to take Eddie out of town, a plan Eddie promised to consider. Soon after Emily returned home, Hal and Tom showed up, telling Susan they were there to collect her scarf.

Julia lambasted Jake for trying to protect her by inventing an alibi. Jake thanked her for her shopping offer but said he'd decided to go to Bay City to be with the kids. The two exchanged awkward holiday greetings before separating.

Georgia and Eddie walked into the mansion as Jack was collecting Lucinda's scarf from her. Georgia protested -- there was no way her "Aunt Lu" could have killed Alec. Susan returned from her bedroom and admitted to Hal and Tom that she couldn't find the scarf, which made Emily go ballistic. Susan turned on her daughter and asked her if she had killed Alec.

Emily refused to justify herself by denying it and promised she'd leave. Lucinda told her niece she had nothing to hide -- she was more concerned that she and Susan Stewart shared a scarf. Back at the station, Hal and Jack discussed the fact that Susan's scarf was missing, and Hal advised Jack to pray for a miracle concerning Margo. Margo was depressed at the realization she'd be in prison through at least New Year's Day, but Tom comforted her by telling her he wouldn't allow her to be separated from him for a lifetime.

At John's office, Lucinda found Camille surprising John with Christmas decorations. Lucinda teased John about Camille, but he insisted it was strictly professional between them. John tried to make plans with Camille for Christmas, but she was going to visit her mother. He gave her a gift -- a doctor's bag. She loved it and thanked him.

At Java, Carly and Barbara had a tense meeting, discussing their fashion show. Jennifer and Abigail hit it off, and Abigail admitted she had befriended an older man. Barbara demanded that Carly explain what had happened to her in Hong Kong. She provided a vague reply, which Jack overheard, and he wanted to know what had really happened. Jack told Carly he had a surprise for her on Christmas if she held off on lying. Carly prayed she could be good for one more day.

Jennifer offered to model for Barbara, as well; though grateful, Barbara declined. Chris had a nightmare he was having wild sex with Molly when Abigail walked in. He woke up in a cold sweat and found Molly at his door. Chris, trying to pave the way for him and Abigail to be together, suggested that he and Molly pretend to be friends. Molly insisted they should end all contact. They argued, and Chris realized that Molly didn't think he was good enough for Abigail. Molly said she just didn't want him to know Abigail because of Chris and Molly's past relationship. They angrily broke things off.

Holden told Lily he wanted to throw a WOAK Christmas party at the house. They told Abigail, who was thrilled because Chris would be there. Molly asked Holden how he thought she was doing with Abigail; he assured her that Abigail worshiped her. Holden and Lily invited Molly to the party, and she accepted, not realizing Chris would be there. Abigail happily told Chris about the party and how they would finally be out of hiding. Chris was speechless.

Friday, December 24, 1999

Katie arrived early at Holden and Lily's party for WOAK. Abigail was anxious for the partygoers to arrive. Chris disappointed his family when he told them he couldn't go to the party with them. Hal watched as Margo wondered to Tom how she would get through the holiday. Chris gave the excuse of having to work, but Nancy exposed it for a lie when she revealed that she knew the taxi service was closing for the holiday. Bob concluded that Chris just didn't want to be with them. With Molly's words about not seeing Abigail ringing in his ears, Chris stormed out.

Casey told Santa he wished it were really Christmas. He said that everyone had been trying to make him feel like it was, and Santa rang his bell. Casey then looked up in wonder as it began to snow. Hal surprised Margo with Christmas decorations to spruce up her cell for the boys' visit. Holden was pleased when Ben and Denise disclosed they were going to let Hope visit the Snyders for the holidays. Arriving at the party, Carly was upset when Jack corrected her assumption about their bet ending that night -- their bet wasn't over until the following day.

John deserted Camille at the airport when Tom called him about being with Margo. Isaac learned his flight to Las Vegas was delayed and tried to get on the flight to Miami, which Camille was on, and both learned that the flight was in danger of being canceled because of the snow. Jack told Carly she needed to make it through all of Christmas Day in order to get him to pay up.

Katie urged Henry to leave the party when he made cutting remarks about Abigail. Andy surprised his family when he joined them at the party. When Abigail learned Chris wasn't attending, she asked Katie to make excuses for her and left.

Isaac introduced himself to Camille and explained that he was trying to get out of Oakdale, noting he was not one for the holidays, and Oakdale wasn't exciting enough for him. Camille laughingly decided they had nothing in common.

Chris told Santa his wish was to be with the people he loved, and when he turned around, Abigail was there. Chris explained to her that he'd realized he wanted to keep their romance a secret for a little while longer. Abigail kissed him and gave him a journal in recognition of his wanting to be a writer.

Holden and Kim both gave speeches to the partygoers. Ben noted Denise's unease when Andy congratulated them on their engagement and told her she had to do something. Molly worried that Abigail had gone to see her guy, but Holden didn't share her concern. Isaac and Camille shared small talk until Camille's flight finally arrived, with Isaac noting he knew a guy who went to medical school and didn't have time for anything else.

Margo had a small party in her cell with the Munsons as well as John and Lisa joining Tom and the boys. When everybody had to leave, Tom surprised her with the news that he and the boys were staying the night, and Adam started carrying in Christmas presents. As soon as the last guest departed, Holden dragged Lily under the mistletoe. Katie peaked through the front door and watched them kiss.

Isaac's flight to Las Vegas began boarding, but he changed his mind -- he was going to stay in Oakdale for a while. Katie arrived home to an empty house and found a message from Tom on the answering machine, explaining everything. She turned on the Christmas tree lights by herself and wound up a music box.

Tom and Margo snuggled happily on her cot after tucking Adam and Casey into sleeping bags. Holden sensed Abigail's loneliness and thrilled her by suggesting she call her parents in Saudi Arabia. Chris was there, waiting, when the Hugheses arrived home, and he and Andy agreed to spend the night there. Bob noted to Kim that all their children were doing well -- their Christmas miracle had come true.
