The legacy of The Young and the Restless means different things for different people. Check out what some of the stars of the show think about their soap opera's lasting impact.

The Young and the Restless became America's number one soap opera for many reasons, one of which is that it stars some of the most talented and respected actors in the business. And speaking of those celebrated performers, a couple sat down for an official video to share what the Y&R legacy means to them.

"Very young people [who started] on this show are grandparents on this show now. It's fascinating," says Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) of the show's longevity. "It's fun to see it all happen."

Shares Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman): "Little ones, they're at their mother's knee. They're doing what mom's doing. Time to eat, I'm eating. Time to sleep, I'm sleeping. Well, what are you watching? I'm gonna watch it, even though you're little and don't even understand it. You hear the theme song, that kind of gets in your bones."

"This is a monster, this show," says Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman). "And I say that in a good way. It's a term of endearment. It is a monster. You get involved with it, you be a part of it, you wear it with a badge of honor. I'm very proud to be a part of it."

Check out the video, which also features Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland) and Genoa City newbie Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales), below then let us know what the legacy of Y&R means to you.
