Soap stars headline dark comedy series Acting Dead

The new web series Acting Dead features a cast full of soap stars, including Days of our Lives vets Patrika Darbo, who plays a talent agent to an actor who resorts to becoming a zombie to land roles, and Jillian Clare, a former child star with a bad temper. Several other soap stars will also guest star throughout the series' first season.

The first episode of Acting Dead premiered on JTS.TV on April 22, 2014. The show, billed as a "zom com," is a dark comedy about zombies in Hollywood.

The series stars Brian Beacock (Mulholland Dr.) as Tate Blodgett, an unemployed actor, who, after being turned down for role after role, becomes a zombie so he can finally get work in the many zombie movies and television shows. He meets Alex Carboneux, portrayed by Jillian Clare (ex-Abigail Deveraux, Days of our Lives), a former child star whose temper has stalled her career until she also decides to take matters into her own hands. The decision to turn into zombies doesn't end up quite the way either of them expected.

Patrika Darbo (Nancy Wesley, DAYS) is a series regular as Margot Mullen, Tate's agent. Several soap stars will make guest appearances in season one, including: Eric Martsolf (Brady Black, DAYS; ex-Ethan Winthrop, Passions), Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller, General Hospital), Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless; ex-A.J. Quartermaine, GH), John J. York (Mac Scorpio, GH), and Jacee Jule (Ellen, DAYS).

Darbo's character, Nancy Wesley, on DAYS is known for her conniving and manipulations, but Margot Mullen on Acting Dead is a less shady character. The show's website describes her as a loyal agent to her clients with a fear of technology and a five-pack-a-day smoking habit.

Producer Susan Bernhardt and writer/executive producer Brian Beacock stopped by Soap Central Live in October of 2013 to talk about Acting Dead. The full episode, including the interview, is available for streaming or downloading.

A new episode of Acting Dead will be released each Tuesday until the halfway point of the season. At that point JTS.TV will continue the Tuesday release schedule with two surprise episodes. The show's creators tease that viewers will have to tune in to see what these surprise episodes are all about. The final four episodes of season one will follow the surprise episodes with the finale set to air June 24, 2014.

Acting Dead can be viewed on the JTS.TV website which requires a subscription of $3.99 a month or $39.99 for a year. Interested viewers can test the site and content out with a three-day free trial.
