OLTL's Erika Slezak mourns Patricia Elliott; also shares thoughts on returning to showbiz

Legendary soap opera actress Erika Slezak (ex-Victoria Lord, One Life to Live) opens up about the passing of her longtime friend and co-star, Patricia Elliott (ex-Renee Divine), and comments on whether or not she plans to return to acting.

The daytime community has been mourning the loss of One Life to Live's Patricia Elliott (ex-Renee Divine), who passed away in her home over the weekend following a battle with cancer. Several of her co-stars have shared their thoughts and memories of the beloved actress, including her longtime friend and co-star, Erika Slezak (ex-Victoria Lord) -- with whom Elliott shared the screen quite often, seeing as how both actress' alter egos dated Asa Buchanan (Phil Carey) and Clint Buchanan (Clint Ritchie), a prominent Llanview father/son duo.

"My dear friend and colleague Patricia Elliott passed away from a very rare cancer on Sunday. Pat was a wonderful, kind, generous soul, with a wicked sense of humor and a great deal of talent," Slezak shares on her official website. "She was a friend, and a woman to whom I always turned when I had questions or needed advice. I will miss her and I wish her peace and quiet now, which is what she always looked for."

In addition to releasing a statement about Elliott, Slezak wrote a holiday letter for fans in which she gives an update about her life and being out of the spotlight.

"This year has flown by, but I have at least had time to enjoy my family and friends, and I don't have to get up at 5 AM any more -- what a pleasure," she begins. "I must say that it took me a year to get used to a new routine -- having had the old one for 45 years. But I am comfortably settled into my new life at home. I have my hobbies and my chores and my cooking and my reading and whatever else I find to do. We now have three dogs, and two cats, and they keep me very busy. We have a Bearded Collie, Archie, an English Cocker Spaniel named Alfie, and my little Maltese, my best friend, Harry. And our two cats, Lucy and Emily. If I could get them all in one photo I would -- but that's impossible."

"It's kind of amazing -- I get up in the morning, and suddenly it's 6 PM and time to make dinner," she continues. "I don't even know where the days go. All I know is that I am enjoying myself."

As for whether or not the six-time Emmy Award winning actress would return to the entertainment world, she says it's all in the stars. "If work comes along, and it's good and interesting, I would probably be happy to do it, but so far, nothing interesting has shown up," she shares. "So that's just fine by me."

She then thanks fans for their continued support and offers her holiday wishes. "I... want to thank everyone for the cards and letters that are still coming," she says. "It's really lovely to hear from folks and I thank you all for keeping in touch. And thank you all for your support over the years. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a happy and healthy New Year. With love, Erika."
