GH's Nick Stabile wraps his temporary run as Nikolas Cassadine

General Hospital's Nick Stabile, who temporarily replaced Tyler Christopher in the role of Nikolas Cassadine, has wrapped his short stint on the ABC soap.

Hot on the heels of the news that Kirsten Storms will be returning to General Hospital in the role of Maxie, and her temporarily replacement, Days of our Lives' alum Molly Burnett, will be leaving the canvas comes news that Nick Stabile, temporarily replacement for Tyler Christopher in the role of Nikolas Cassadine, has already left the canvas.

Fans saw the actor depart the show on Tuesday's episode when Nikolas heroically stopped a bullet from wiping out his new sidekick, Ava Jerome (Maura West). Unfortunately for Nikolas, he ended up in a scuffle with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and later ironically crashed through a window in what appeared to be a fatal fall.

While it's unlikely that the dramatic accident spells the end of Nikolas, it does spell the end for Stabile. Soap Opera Digest reports that the June 19 episode was the final episode for Christopher's temporary replacement. As for Christopher himself, there's no word on when the Emmy-winner will be back to reprise his role. Rumor has it he and the ABC soap are in contentious contract talks, which may have prompted his personal leave from the show.

What did you think about Stabile's run as Nikolas? Do you think Nikolas is really dead? If not, how do you think the character will make a return to the canvas?
