Kirsten Storms charged with DUII

GH star Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) is the latest celebrity to be arrested on DUI charges in Los Angeles. While Storms may not have the same clout as some recently arrested celebs, the actress spent some time in jail and was ordered to pay a hefty fine. Storms joined General Hospital in 2005.

General Hospital starlet Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) has been formally charged with two counts of misdemeanor drunken driving stemming from an arrest earlier in the month.

Do you think a DUI arrest is grounds for Storms' dismissal from GH?
No. Even though she failed the tests, everyone is entitled to a mistake.   37%
Yes. Performers have morals clauses and I think this violates that.   23%
I don't feel that I am in a position to make that call.   16%
Well, No. I am a big Storms fan and don't want to see her fired.   13%
No. Storms is still innocent and has not yet been convicted of any crime.   6%
Yes. In many places, most employers can fire employees 'at will.'   5%

According to a police report obtained, California Highway Patrol officers observed a lit cigarette being tossed from a blue Mercedes CLK500 at 3:04am on September 7th. When the officers stopped the car, which was being driven by Storms, they noticed "the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle." Storms was given a series of field sobriety tests, which she was unable to perform satisfactorily. A subsequent breathalyzer test was given and the report states that the results "indicated the presence of alcohol greater than 0.08%, the California legal limit."

The 23-year-old actress was arrested for DUI, a misdemeanor, and taken to Van Nuys Jail. She was later released on $5,000 bail.

Storms joined the cast of General Hospital in 2005, taking over the role of Maxie from fan favorite Robyn Richards. Prior to joining GH, Storms appeared for five years as Belle Black on NBC's Days of our Lives.

Storms will be arraigned October 2nd in Van Nuys Superior Court. If convicted, she faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

"ABC does not comment on actor's personal lives," a show spokesperson told Soap Central.
