Days of our Lives has dropped its fair share of recent casting news via social media. In the soap's latest Instagram casting post on May 16, DAYS is welcoming actress Kennedy Garcia to the cast as Felicity -- and wishing the young performer a very happy birthday.
"It's a great day to welcome @kennedyjean04 to Salem, plus it's her birthday today!" the post reads. "Wish her Happy Birthday and tune in to meet 'Felicity' on-air next week!"
As DAYS fans know, Chanel has been worried about her baby not developing correctly thanks to the radiation she was exposed to during the first few weeks of her pregnancy. She mentioned to Johnny that there is a young girl with special needs named Felicity who often frequents Sweet Bits bakery and observes Chanel at work. Chanel has developed a friendship with the teen, which has led her to think about what special needs her own child might have.
Garcia is a teen actress with Down syndrome who has been working as a model and motivational speaker for several years. According to her IMDb page, Garcia is also a leukemia survivor. However, this young lady didn't let medical problems get her down. She made history when she became the first American Girl model with Down syndrome, and now she is taking her talents to DAYS.
In 2022, Garcia told the Breaking the Chains Foundation how her love for dance led to a career as an actress.
"I always loved to dance even before I could walk," Garcia said. "My mom said that when I was a toddler and dancers would come on TV, I would point and say 'that!' After I finished chemotherapy and spine fusion surgery, I started my first ballet class and I've been dancing ever since. I started modeling when I was 5 or 6 for small shops on Instagram and loved it! And was on my first movie set when I was 5. I knew then that I wanted to do more!"
Will Felicity become a part of the new DAYS teen scene that includes Holly and Tate, as well as their pals Sophia and Aaron? Stay tuned to find out.
