Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Brady) will return to Days of our Lives next week as Salem holds a funeral for Victor Kiriakis.
The actress, who last appeared on DAYS in 2009, actually put in a request to be part of anything the show might do to celebrate the life of Victor and his portrayer John Aniston.
"I had talked to Martha Madison [Belle] and said, 'I know you're on the show right now. If you hear of any funeral arrangements or anything like that, please let me know because I really want to pay my respects," Melvin told Soap Opera Digest.
Melvin says she is unsure if reaching out made a difference or if the show had planned to contact her, anyway, but shortly thereafter, Melvin said that her agent reached out to say that she was wanted for a memorial episode.
Melvin said that she was "more than willing and excited and happy to do" the episode.
Rachel Melvin made her first Days of our Lives appearance in May 2005. She remained with the then-NBC soap through June 2009. In story, Chelsea learned that her mother, Billie, was in a very serious car accident and would require multiple surgeries and intensive therapy. Chelsea moved to London to help her mother through the recovery.
Since leaving DAYS, Melvin has appeared in at least a dozen movies, including 2014's Dumb and Dumber To. She has also made numerous guest appearances in primetime.
Melvin will appear on September 7.
