It's been about two weeks since fans learned that Lindsay Arnold would be exiting her role as Allie Horton on Days of our Lives. And while fans are still trying to process the news, Arnold is sharing how she arrived at her decision to exit the soap.
The decision to leave wasn't necessarily an easy one -- but it also wasn't a difficult one.
"I really love everyone who works on DAYS so much. It's such an amazing set to be on. It genuinely feels like a family, from the actors that I worked with to the producers and the directors," Arnold told Soap Opera Digest. "I knew I was going to miss everyone so much."
On the flip side of the coin, Arnold said that she knew as her three-year contract was set to expire that it was time to step back and figure some things out.
"I had been thinking on it for pretty much a year. It wasn't a last-minute decision. It was something that I really thought about. I felt like it was time to take a break for a while, explore some other things, and re-evaluate what I wanted to do in general," she explained.
Arnold first appeared as Allie in June 2020. During that time her character has been pregnant, possessed by the devil, had a threesome, and become part of a hugely popular couple
On getting to play Satan, Arnold said she had "a blast" and enjoyed "getting to be ridiculous."
Arnold called DAYS a "huge step" in her career. "It was so important for my professional and personal life."
To her fans, Arnold had a heartfelt message, "Thank you for the constant love and support."
Days of our Lives has not yet revealed if the role will be recast.
