Kate Mansi and Billy Flynn return to Days of our Lives

Huge news, Chabby fans: Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi are returning as Days of our Lives' Chad and Abigail!

While most people across the nation are impatiently awaiting the beginning of summer, Days of our Lives fans are going to start impatiently awaiting the arrival of fall. That's because Emmy-nominated actors Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi are reprising their roles of Chad DiMera and Abigail Deveraux this autumn.

The surprising news was quietly announced via the NBC soap opera's DOOL app during all the excitement of this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. Neither Flynn nor Mansi won in their Emmy categories -- Outstanding Leading Actor went to General Hospital's Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and Outstanding Special Guest Star went to GH's Patricia Bethune (Nurse Mary Pat) -- but the casting news makes both them and their fans major winners, despite that.

As fans may recall, both Flynn and Mansi exited DAYS on Thursday, February 21. The door was left open for their returns, with Chad and Abigail getting married and leaving for Europe. At this time, it's unclear what brings Chabby back to Salem and how long the pair will stick around.

Flynn took on the role of Chad DiMera in 2014, while Mansi played the role of Abigail from 2011 to 2016 and again from 2018 to 2019 (with Emmy-nominated actress Marci Miller playing the character from 2016 to 2018).
