Days of our Lives' Nicole Walker is believed to be deader than a doornail, but that isn't stopping Arianne Zucker from reprising her role next year.

It looks like 2019 is going to be a good year for fans of Arianne Zucker. The Emmy-nominated actress is stepping back into the role of Days of our Lives' Nicole Walker.

"Days of our Lives is excited to announce the return of fan favorite, Arianne Zucker. Making guest appearances in 2018, Arianne will reprise her role as Nicole Walker in 2019," the NBC soap opera announced via the DOOL App.

A short time later, Zucker shared her own social media post and exclaimed that she was "super excited to be back" at Days of our Lives.

At the moment, everyone in Salem believes Nicole to be dead, and there's a battle between Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) as to who should be raising Nicole's daughter, Holly. The uncomfortable situation is likely to get worse before it gets better, with DAYS teasing that Zucker will be sharing the screen with Vaughan, Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady), and Gilles Marini (Ted Laurent) in "thrilling and hard-hitting scenes" upon her "explosive return to the canvas" in 2019.

Zucker originated the role of troublemaking Nicole in 1998 and played the flawed but loveable character until 2006. She returned to the show in 2008 and earned three Daytime Emmy Award nominations (in 2010, 2013, and 2014). The actress shocked fans in the spring of 2017 with the announcement that after 18 years playing Nicole, she was exiting the long-running series. In a heartfelt message posted on social media at the time, she said that "nothing is ever permanent" and that her departure was just "bye for now."
