Close call, Days of our Lives fans: Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) almost opted to exit the NBC series. Things worked out, and he has decided to stay at the soap he's called home since 2014.

Days of our Lives fans were thisclose to another major exit, but everything seems to have turned out well in the end: Billy Flynn has re-signed with the NBC soap and will continue to play the role of Chad DiMera.

The actor took to Twitter with the good news, writing: "Pssstttt...I'm staying. #days #lovehard"

But the truly interesting detail lies between the lines, or rather the comments, of his reveal. In response to a question about whether or not he had been planning to leave DAYS, Flynn revealed he's somewhat been considering exiting the role he has played since 2014. (Side note: the question came from famous Star Trek actor William Shatner.)

"No... I don't know," Flynn answered. "I am shooting a film in October so was on the fence, but it all worked out."

Fans of Chad and Abigail (Marci Miller) may want to breathe a sigh of relief, as Flynn's exit could have been the loss of the super popular Salem couple altogether. As Soap Central previously reported, Miller has chosen to leave the role of Abigail and the character's former portrayer Kate Mansi is stepping in on a (as of now) temporary basis.

Flynn took over the role of Chad DiMera in September 2014. The actor received an Outstanding Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination in 2017.

Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates on Flynn's new film when they become available.
