ATWT recasts role of Dallas Griffin

As the World Turns' writing team has apparently decided that an older Dallas Griffin will have more storyline possibilities. The "aging" process means that Duane McLaughlin has been let go.

How do you feel about ATWT's decision to recast Dallas?

Daytime newcomer Kenneth Franklin joins the cast of As the World Turns, taking over the role of Dallas Griffin. The decision to recast the role means that Duane McLaughlin, the actor that created the role of Dallas, is out.

Little is known of Franklin at this time. A search of previous credits for the actor came up empty. A spokesperson for As the World Turns was unavailable for comment.

McLaughlin, meanwhile, joined the ATWT cast in June 2006. McLaughlin was a newcomer to daytime himself, but he had previously appeared in two made-for-television movies and guest starred in several primetime drama series. In addition to his television work, McLaughlin has also graced the silver screen on several occasions.

The recast was brought on by a decision to "age" Dallas.

McLaughlin last airs on February 14th. Franklin bows later in the month on February 26th.
