This has been an exciting week for All My Children alum Eric Nelsen (ex-A.J. Chandler) and his wife, Sainty. The real-life married pair welcomed their second child on September 27, and just one day earlier, they won Best Play for their show The Inheritance at the 2021 Tony Awards!
The production, which examines love between gay men in contemporary New York a generation after the AIDS epidemic, was co-produced by the proud new parents.
"Just won a Tony Award and I have no words to express my emotions right now!!" Nelsen wrote on Instagram. "This has been beyond a dream. Winning alongside my partner, best friend, and wife @saintynelsen makes this more special than anything... We did it!!! God is goooood!"
In addition to Best Play, The Inheritance also won three other Tony Awards: Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a play, won by Andrew Burnap; Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play, won by Lois Smith; and Best Direction of a Play, won by Stephen Daldry.
Eric Nelson played A.J. Chandler in the Prospect Park/Hulu version of All My Children. Some of his additional credits include The Bay, FraXtur, The White Vault, and The Affair. The actor's Tony Award win follows three Daytime Emmy Award wins for his producing work on The Bay (all of which he also shares with Sainty).
